As promised, here's the new and improved Weirdville neighborhood! The previous version had to end not long before it started due to a strange glitch (more details on this post), but hopefully this new version will last for at least a few generations.
Now, as I promised in the follow-up post, I'm going to start playing this second iteration of the hood with three households on a four-day rotation: McCheese (i.e., what was originally the one lonesone founder household), Prettyface (from my old - and sadly just as short-lived - prettacy) and Curious (i.e., Pascal and Nervous Subject).

We're starting with Weird Alfred McCheese. Let's hope things will be better for him this time around...

Welcome to Weirdville. Until very recently, it had been a lush yet unhabited place, not too far from [tumblr.com profile] penig's Widespot. However, a group of aliens decided to create a town here and invited some humans to settle down and make it prosper. Two single sims and a runaway couple from Strangetown decided to answer the call. This is their story (dum dum).

This unusual piece of architecture belongs to one of the single sims, an aspiring musician known as Weird Alfred McCheese.

And, as you can see, it's a very unusual piece of architecture indeed.

(I should apologize for the small screenshots, by the way. I know that the larger game camera pictures are too small for today's computer resolutions, but I am still searching for a good program to replace them. In the meantime, I'll have to stick with the game camera and the occasional click on the printscreen key.)

And here's our sim. Here are his stats:

Weird Alfred McCheese
5-10-7-5-10
Knowledge/Grilled Cheese
One True Hobby (OTH): Music & Dance
Lifetime Want (LTW): Become Rock God
Turn-ons: Red Hair, Great Cook
Turn-off: Plantsims

In accordance to his OTH, the very first thing he did for himself was to turn on the stereo and start dancing.

Here's Joy Despret with the newspaper. Yes, Joy Despret, made famous by the great Juno Birch, delivers the paper in Weirdville. Blame the NPC & Townie Maker (available via cheats) and its tencency to use Downtownie face templates on occasion when you use it to create NPCs.
(This explains why the newspaper deliverer in the previous incarnation of this hood had a mask, if you think about it.)

It was raining heavily at this point, but Rob Humble still showed up with his gift, looking very cheerful.

Instead of using a downtownie template for the matchmaker, the NPC & Townie Maker decided to use one of the faces from the template replacement I had on my downloads folder at the time (I used a few different replacements as I was setting up the hood for a bit of variety), and I'm so glad I did. Just look at those cheekbones!

Weird Alfred installed Rod Humble's computer in order to seach for a job in the music industry - but alas, there were no offers.

Then, he made himself a nice grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast.

Weird Alfred's smustle face is absolutely priceless.

By the way, in case you haven't read anything I've written about him previously, his face is 100% Maxis. He was originally a university dormie you can find in the CAS bin (the nerdy boy), which I aged to adult in BodyShop, changing his hair, eye colour and clothes, as well as adding a custom 'stache, but leaving his face untouched. (I gave him a genetic infant face recently, thanks to Ivy Copur's awesome tutorial, but the face is still the same.)

His dance was interrupted by a phone call from the downtown slob, who invited him to an outing in Bigg City (the downtown designed by [tumblr.com profile] penig, which I use instead of the Maxis one whenever I have a hood that also includes her other creations, Widespot and Land Grant University).

I usually pick the Crypt-O'Night Club when my sims are invited Downtown, but with Bigg City I usually choose a bowling alley instead - and since this hood is inspired by "Weird Al" Yankovic (as is this particular founder), bowling is particularly relevant.

The outing group consisted solely on the slob, a gentleman by the name of Mippy who seems to have the same face template as the matchmaker.

Oh, hello there, Pascal!

Because Bigg City is unpopulated, I've added a small number of downtownies: the two slobs, the Diva and Mr. Big were created using the NPC & Townie Maker; I've also added Rainelle Neengia (whom I extracted and recreated in CAS), and downloaded [tumblr.com profile] plumbtales's alternate version of the Tricou teens, who look slightly different from their Maxis version. This one here is one of the teens, Loren.

Weird Alfred made sure the outing was interesting and entertaining, first by telling some jokes...

...and then with some bowling.

These ladies were clearly from the batch of townies created with the same template replacement set as Mippy's face. I've used four different sets for Weirdville's townies, by the way: this for very interesting and unusual faces, this one for Maxis faces with a little twist, and finally a combination of these two sets.

Oh look, a Bella Goth clone!

This is something that remains unchanged from the previous version of Weirdville: Bella Goth might be seen walking around the hood, as well as several clones of hers. You can tell the original apart because she has the same face as the Pleasantview Bella, while the others have the same face as their Strangetown counterpart.

Pascal, dear, I don't think you should be playing bowling while you're that heavily pregnant - but hey, if you feel you're up for it, then go ahead. I'm not the boss of you.

Well, not until I start playing your household, that is.

Oh, look who is it!

"I vant to play some bowling, bleh!"

I wish I had filmed the grand vampire playing, by the way, because she kept falling flat on her face and throwning gutter balls. It was epic and very undignified.

I eventually ended the outing and sent Weird Alfred to visit the so far only community lot in Weirdville: Big Edna's Burger World. I had to rebuild it all over again, since I didn't save the one I made for the original version of the hood, but I think it looks very close to what I had made before.

As soon as Weird Alfred got off the taxi, he was greeted by another Bella clone.

Ooh, I love the chef's face!

As soon as there were enough female sims in the building, I made Weird Alfred scope the room in search of someone he might find attractive. The winner was Rosmerta Salamander here, who looks very similar to the founder's spouse in my old Cheese Legacy (but this might be because they were both made using the same face template set).

One thing in her favour: she reacted positively to Weird Alfred telling her about grilled cheese.

She seems to be a bit confused, though. I mean, she was saying she wouldn't sleep with Weird Alfred if he was the last sim on earth, but at the same time she was going "Ooh, I'd hit that!" at him. Go figure.

With Rosmerta gone, Weird Alfred turned his attention to another lady, named Rapunzel. (I apologize for not taking a good screenshot of her face.)

They had a long, nice chat, until she herself also left.

Weird Alfred then returned home, where he read a little before going to bed.

The following morning, he had a grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast...

...and then I sent him to a community lot in Widespot. I forgot to make him change clothes before ordering him to go, and so he left in his underwear. Oops.

However, by the time he arrived at Widespot's Watering Hole, he was fully dressed.

This is one of the aliens I made to replace the ones from the original Weirdville, which had glitched in a very strange manner. These ones were made by following Pooklet's Townie Face Randomising via this post, but stopping halfway - in other words, I used only the first generator from that post (had I used the second generator as intended, they would then look pretty and human, rather than bizarre and alien-like).

Her name is Pollination Technician #27, by the way.

Another interesting-looking townie, Hermione Makepeace.

Another of my aliens! Her name is Z37d4 (it's pronounced "Zelda") Green. She's a Romance sim who thinks that wearing nothing but a towel is sexy.

Here's why I only used the first generator from that post when I made my aliens. While PT 27 has a massive nose, Z37d4's nose is so sunken in it almost looks like an abyss.

Weird Alfred had a nice time chatting with some sims in the hot tub.

It took me a while to realize why several sims were screaming in shock when they walked by the hot tub. It turns out that both Weird Alfred and the other guy in the tub were stark naked (the two ladies had their swimsuits on, though).

Later on, PT 27 went into the hot tub as well, and also decided to get naked. Oh, those outgoing sims...

Hermione made hot dogs for everybody.

Weird Alfred would have preferred to have grilled cheese, but he was too nice to refuse the hot dog.

Since he had negative chemistry with absolutely every female sim he had found at the Watering Hole, he returned home just as the Bella clone he had met at the Burger World decided to call him. In fact, this was the first of several phone calls from her in the following days.

A wolf decided to dig a hole on the edge of the lot, so as soon as the phone call was over I ordered Weird Alfred to go there and interrupt the fun.

The wolf didn't appreciate someone attempting to mess with his work of art, and Weird Alfred was understandably worried.

Because he was still unable to get a job in his area, and because we already have bills to pay, I made him dig a few times on the whole in search of treasure.

He found several rocks and bokes, a garden gnome, and two maps.

I sold the rocks and the bones, which were enough to help pay the bills.

Day three. I got distracted for a small second, and was surprised to find that Weird Alfred made a booty call to someone.

The previous day, I made him talk to both Rosmerta and Rapunzel on the phone, and let things develop slowly until I could tell which one he liked the most. Neither of them had a relationship with him that was high enough for them to say yes if I was to make him invite them over, but clearly the powers of ACR are stronger than mine.

So... who is it?

It's Rosmerta!

Since they were still acquaintances at this point, they greeted each other with a small nod.

However, they soon started flirting.

And then they undressed (well, sort of), and woohooed on the sofa.

Since ACR decided things for me, I made Weird Alfred ask Rosmerta on a date in order to increase their relationship. By the end of it, their relationship had evolved from "acquaintances" to "best friends" and "in love."

After Rosmerta left, I made Weird Alfred spend the rest of the day looking after himself and doing the things he loved. Alas, the job hunt was still unsuccessful - and made worse by the fact the computer was bow broken.

Rosmerta dropped some roses on his doorstep, so I placed them on top of his dresser, right next to the portrait of his other love.

Day 4. Weird Alfred began his morning by searching for job offers on the newspaper.

Then, since he had been rolling for some romantic wants with Rosmerta, I made him ask her out on a new date.

Since the wants included one for engagement, I decided to send them to a lovely wedding venue. If they wanted to be fast, then I was more than happy to oblige.

Here's the wedding venue. Pretty, isn't it?

While waiting for more townies to arrive, the date continued in the middle of the road.

And then he proposed.

Wait, what? Dude, you wanted to get engaged! Why on earth is this a bad memory?

We had quite a few sims in the venue now, which included both townies and Widespot sims.

And here's another of my aliens, Colony Drone Farmer. I think he's the prettiest of my aliens.

Oh no. She's here.

Don't you dare looking at them like that, Mrs. Crumplebottom. They're not doing anything wrong.

"Yet."

And the ceremony began.

It was only after I uploaded the screenshots that I realized that Rosmerta thinks she's married a rich sim. Dear, his only money consists on a few dozen simoleons he got from digging some rocks and bones.

Here are some of the sims attending the wedding: Rich Mann from Widespot (an evil criminal mastermind), a townie in a sari, yet another Bella clone...

...and Widespot's Sandy Beech, accompanied by two townies.

The one on the right didn't have that helicopter hat while he was wearing his everyday clothes, by the way, which means it's part of his formal ensemble. Weird.

His memory is now a positive one, thank goodness.

The moment Rosmerta became a married woman, she rolled the want for a baby. Typical family sim.

And here's the happy couple, along with Rosmerta's stats:

Rosmerta McCheese (née Salamander)
6-3-6-4-6
Family
OTH: Tinkering
LTW: Become City Planner
Turn-ons: Glasses, Charismatic
Turn-off: Great Dancer

As soon as they returned home, I made Rosmerta call someone to repair the computer.

And before I ordered either of them to do anything else, they decided to woohoo on the sofa, even though they have a bed and the repairman is on his way and the sofa is in clear view from the front door.

Yep, here he is. Oh dear.

Luckily, the walk from the truck to the front door is long enough that they were able to finish before the poor man was scarred for life.
And because Rosmerta is a family sim, she decided to roll for baby and so she's now pregnant. It looks like her want to go on a honeymoon is out of the question, as going abroad is a hellish experience when playing with a pregnant sim, as they spend the whole time vomiting.

Sir, you are my hero.

Before I go any further, I need to confess I made a big mistake, which you will see below. You see, I was surprised during their first date, when I saw that their chemistry level lost a bolt halfway through the date. While looking at Rosmerta's stats after the wedding, I realized this was because she has Great Dancer as a turn-off - which means that Weird Alfred must have gained enough hidden dance skills during the date for that turn-off to be activated. Because of this, I decided to cheat a little, and change Rosmerta's turn-off via the ReNuYuSenso Orb, as they had enough aspiration points to use that reward.

Of course, I failed to realize that Rosmerta's aspiration was in the green, and when that happens some aspiration-related rewards might have unexpected results...

...and that's exactly what happened here.

"Ow. Ow. OW!"

So now Rosmerta's aspiration was changed to Grilled Cheese (and she's still repulsed by good dancers). As it usually happens in such a situation, as soon as the got off the orb she made a trayful of grilled cheese sandwiches.

I moved the orb outside, as I ponder on my next move. Should I change Rosmerta's aspiration back to Family when her mood is increased, or leave her a Grilled Cheese sim? Should I change her turn-off or leave things as they are?

Still no job offers. Ah well, Rosmerta's money (and her job as a gas station attendant) will help them pay the bills and buy the necessary ingredients to cook grilled cheese for the moment.

They finally remembered they have their own bed and decided to woohoo again. Immediately after that, they decided to hang out and have a nice chat, with the messy bed blocking their line of vision.

Anyway, this is all for today. Join me next time, when we visit the legend that is Percy Prettyface!
