It's been over a year since I last posted a Sims update, due to a number of reasons. The main one is that I began a course that revealed itself to be extremely demanding, and which ended up taking up much of my time and my energy. However, there was another reason: a really strange glitch that occurred in my game. I first noticed it during the music jam in
my last Weirdville update, but I avoided sharing any screenshots where it was visible. Basically, some of the aliens from the townie pool I used when I created that neighbourhood began to glitch out and their skintone became S2 (well, DNA-less, if you think about it) rather than green. To this day I don't know what caused it, as my search for a mod conflict showed no results.
(I had a similar thing happen to me when I first tried to do a Pascal & Nervous legacy challenge set in the Strangetown with a Twist hood (you can find my intro to it
here, but in that case I found the answer.)
I want to start playing the Sims again, but I've ended up resetting my game and doing a complete overhaul of my downloads folder so I'm going to start anew. What I'm trying to decide is where to go now, and I have a few options, all of which sound very interesting to me. No, I'm not going to pick more than one, because I want to start things slowly and do a stress-free sort of play. Here are my options:
Carry on playing the Weirdville hood. Luckily, it was still in its early days and nothing of relevance had happened to Weird Alfred, so we can treat it was a soft reset/continuation. The aliens from the townie pool will be gone, just to be on the safe side, but Weird Alfred's crazy home was saved in a package right after I created it (and is therefore completely clean and safe to play), and Weird Alfred himself is not only saved in a Sims2Pack format, but I've successfully given him a genetic baby face thanks to
ivycopur's helpful tutorial. I remade him in a test hood, together with a female version of himself, just to see if it worked, and I'm happy to report it was 100% successful. Spoiler alert: Weird Alfred's baby version looks a bit like a frog, in the most adorable way.Start the Prettyface Legacy from scratch. Percy is still my baby, and I love him to bits. I had saved my original version of that hood when the computer I had at the time died, but I ended up losing the backup, so any attempt to play that legacy again will involve a fresh start - sadly without Marquise or their daughters, but with (again) a genetic baby face on Percy. That should be interesting. And scary, though in a good way if you enjoy prettacies.Go back to Pascal and Nervous as legacy founders. This could be either with the "With a Twist" AU, or the Uber/Mega-Hood version by colorless_world - but if I go for the latter, then Nervous will be a hybrid version of the Nervous we know and love and the alternative Nervous hidden in game (the one that actually appears in Olive's family tree). Bella Goth will also be a combination of both versions from Strangetown and Pleasantview. Oh, and speaking of Bella, if I go for that version I might alternate between playing Nervous & Pascal and playing Cassandra, in a two-household rotation. We'll see.Go back to another project I started years ago, in which I used my favourite Pleasantview townie, Tosha Go, as founder. Or I can play Stella Terrano from La Fiesta Tech, or Marla Biggs from Academie Le Tour.Or finally, and going back to the first option, I can play Weirdville by rotating between Weird Alfred, Pascal & Nervous, and Cassandra. My plotline for those premades is pretty much the same, and would make sense in the context of Weirdville: they want to start anew, Pascal & Nervous wanting to be as far away from the Beakers' experiments as possible, while Cassandra wants to mend her broken heart after being left at the altar. The final decision will be mine, of course, but if you happen to read this and find a particular option more appealing to you, please let me know.
