The Gieke Legacy, Part 7
Sep. 25th, 2022 02:39 pm
Last time, I posted three updates of this legacy in a week, and promised I'd try to get a fourth one. Instead, it took me over a month to follow up on this, of which I apologize.
The explanation is very simple: I got sick. Because of this, not only was I too whoozy to sit in front of the computer, but I was also unable to get back to school for a week - and, as I've mentioned in the past, I'm taking a very intensive course on Java, and the intensity is such that missing a week of classes resulted in a snowball effect that made catching up increasingly difficult. I'm still struggling, but for the sake of my mental health I decided to take a break and play a bit of sims before my nose returns to the grindstone.
And wouldn't you know it, this particular session of sim-playing became very intense, as so much happened in the Gieke household. Brace yourselves.

We begin where we left off, with Cosmo teaching a nursery rhyme to baby Celeste.

Second trimester pop!

Meanwhile, Claire is watching some sports to nurture her One True Hobby. Something seems off, though...

Yikes! I don't know what happened, as the files for her hair are not corrupted. Perhaps it's a video card issue.

A quick visit to the nearest mirror did the trick, though - and Claire found this whole thing hilarious, for some reason.

The next day was Monday, and the three eldest Gieke children attended private school for the first time. They all look very smart in their uniforms.

Meanwhile, both Chester and Grace had cravings for grilled cheese sandwiches, so I made them have that for breakfast.

Chester: "Yay, it's raining!"

Uh-oh, Calista the nanny is back. That can only mean one thing.

No, Chester, it doesn't mean you're to jump into the hot tub in the middle of a thunderstorm and risk being electrocuted. It means you've got to go to work and do some crime.

That's better.
Grace: "Yay, it's raining!"
You can see why they've got three bolts.

Nanny Calista followed Grace to the bathroom in order to tell her a joke.

Claire was followed home by Rocky Beech from Widespot (

Why are you in such a hurry, Cosmo?

Oh, right. He needed to show his A+.

Meanwhile, I've realized that another Widespot kid, Delta Land, was on the lot. I don't know which Gieke kid invited her over, but I must share my amusement at the fact the public school kids are following the private school kids.

Aww, Rocky is happy Claire wanted to talk to him.

Meanwhile, Cindy and Delta had fun playing catch.

Thanks to a mod, only one of the Gieke children had homework that day. Guess which one.

Nanny Calista hates filling up the holes left by wolves - but she does it autonomously nevertheless.

The family that skills together, stays together.

Grace managed to learn Lifelong Happiness. Hopefully that'll help her stay cheerful, as I very much doubt she'll be able to fulfill her LTW of maxing out all skills.

Er, I don't think that's a good idea, dear.

Nanny Calista keeps on telling jokes. Claire decided to humour her, but her laughter seems too forced and exaggerated.

Meanwhile, Grace decided to take Celeste downstairs...

...as it was time for her birthday.
However, it should be noted that Grace is clearly not holding Celeste in that screenshot. What happened?

Oh.

Some were very enthusiastic with this turn of events.
Claire: "Hold on, I can't miss this!"

Others, not so much.
Nanny Calista: "Ugh, I don't do births. Goodbye!"
And with this, she hopped on to the Nannymobile and left.

And then there was little Celeste, who was so busy singing to herself she did not notice anything.

And it's a boy! Meet Gary Gieke - same skintone, eye and hair colour as the twins.

Everybody was quite excited.

Some, more than others.
Cosmo: "Awesome, I finally have a brother to play with!"
I'm afraid your birthday will come very soon, dear, and you'll soon consider yourself too old to play with your little brother.

Grace: "Just wait here on the floor until I get back, sweetie."
What are you doing?

Oh, right. I completely forgot about Celeste's birthday.

Cosmo: "Guess what, Nanny Celeste, it's a boy!"
She had just left the lot, why on earth is she calling?

It's been a pretty good week for Chester.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA not going to happen.

Anyway, Chester arrived just in time to see his little girl growing up.

Once again, the game gave her some nice clothes and hairstyle, and I think I'll leave them as they are.

Again, very different reactions, though all positive.

Girls, he's right behind you.

That's better.

The baby is still on the floor, but he's comfortable and entertained.

Aww.
Cindy looks quite confused, though.

Cindy: "You're asking me to play Mary Mack?"

Claire: "Come on, it will be fun!"
I can understand why Cindy is reacting this way. With Claire's single nice point, you always expect her to be plotting something evil - even when it's something as innocent as Mary Mack.

These interactions resulted in a bunch of happy green faces floating around.

Oh no.

We interrupt this romantic interlude to see the return of the nanny.
Nanny Calista: "Hello, children! I'm here for my next shift!"
That's great, but Chester is on his day off. You're not supposed to be here.

Nanny Calista: "Why, you're right!" *leaves*
This woman worries me.

This worries me as well, but thankfully no chimes were heard.

It was time for bed, and I set a new one for Celeste. It amuses me to see that she's wearing identical PJs to Cindy's.

The next morning, Cosmo decided to throw the newspaper away before it got too old.

He did it just in the nick of time.
Amy Jones the papergirl: "Hi, Cosmo!"

And then he rushed to hug his teddy.
Cosmo: "Something tells me we're soon to be apart. I'm not sure if I can deal with something like that."

Celeste was still a toddler when the headmaster came to visit, so she wasn't eligible to attend private school yet. I'll have to do something about it soon.

An hour after the kids left for school, it was time for Grace to leave for work.

When the kids got back, Chester found himself in the centre of an A+ party.

Celeste was not as cheerful. Not only was she the only Gieke kid without an A+ report, she found herself forced to teleport from the bus because the others took so long to get out.

And to make matters worse, I forgot to set her desk and she began doing it on the floor.

There, much better.

Rocky's back!
Claire: "This is nice."
Rocky: "Your hair is in my eye."
Claire: "I don't care."

It was time for Cosmo's birthday - and he decided to take the teddy with him.
Cosmo: "I told you, I'm not ready to let go."

Everybody celebrated.

Oh dear, that's not good.

Cosmo: "Whoa, I'm all grown up! And brown, and fuzzy."
You're staring at the teddy bear, kid.

Cosmo: "And I've got muscles!"
How can you tell with that bear on the way?

Celeste: "Yay teddy!"
You're not helping.

Cosmo is a rather good-looking young man.

That is, if you ignore one little detail.

He's a Knowledge sim like Chester and Grace, and he likes great cooks who like to wear makeup. On the other hand, he thinks swimsuits are rather tacky.

This is a rather appropriate LTW for him, since his One True Hobby is Science and he likes to stargaze.
(And yes, I have custom LTWs - more specifically, 50 New Lifetime Wants for Sims 2 by Lamare.)

Then, as Cosmo grabbed a slice of cake, the teddy bear vanished, never to be seen again.
Cosmo: "We are one now."
You're scaring me.

Once fed, he rushed to the telescope to work on his LTW.

Almost immediately, the head of the local Science club dropped by to give him a membership card.

She also started swooning all over Grace as she left.

Not long after, Claire reached maximum enthusiasm in Cuisine, and the head of the cooking club dropped by to hand her a plaque.

The next morning. The kids left for school...

...followed by Grace an hour later.

This left Chester alone to work on his skills and, on occasion, checking up on baby Gary.

Yay, it's my beloved Percy Prettyface! I'm wondering whether I should ever add him to the Gieke family, as his face is so extreme.

A+ celebration number one.

A+ celebration number two.

Another Widespot kid visiting, this time Delta Land's brother River.
River: "Oh look, a poodle."

Celeste: "Still no A+ for me."
You'll get there.

A+ celebration number three.

Claire had homework, but she wanted to throw water balloons with River, so I obliged.

Just look at those happy faces.

Cindy, meanwhile, befriended a boy from Bluewater Village, Sullivan Buckingham.

Gary's birthday!

He looks like a male version of Claire. I musy confess I'm a bit disappointed.

Actually, they don't just look alike - they have the exact same personality. Which means that, in spite of my using the Batbox to avoid the dreaded Firstborn Syndrome glitch, I still got a clone.

Cheester looks as excited about this as I am.

Uh-oh, Nanny Calista is back...

...which means it's time for Chester to leave, and for everyone else to go to bed.

It's not very exciting to take screenshots of a lot filled with sleeping sims (and one nanny watching television for hours), so I only got back to it once Chester returned.

And because there was no child waiting to hug him, he decided to tuck in his youngest daughter instead.
Anyway, that's all for now. Talk to you soon! ... I hope.
