Here's part 2 of the Gieke Legacy. I apologise for the lateness and for not being very big, but RL took over for a while.

Last time: After reacting with disgust over every woman he saw, Chester Gieke went on a blind date with Grace Duckling ([livejournal.com profile] sammyfrog), with whom he has a surprising 3-bolt chemistry level. Oh yes, and he's also realized that he's pregnant as a result of alien abduction.

With the realization that he'll soon become a father mother, Chester made a huge decision. His child would have a loving family, no matter what.

With this in mind, he invited Grace over.

Needless to say, the combination of ACR and the three bolts immediately took over.

Eventually, he popped the question.

Well, questions, really. And she said yes to both.

A note to anyone who hasn't turned CAS sims into townies: the personalities will stay the way you've assigned them, but the game will randomize your sim's skill points, job (if none was assigned prior to being townified) and earnings - hence the huge amount of cash Grace added to the household.

The sim's inventory will also have random stuff added to it. A bottle of ReNuYu Porta-Chug is generally a given, but other stuff might also be present. Grace, for example, had a rug I immediately placed in the entrance hall...

...a hot tub I placed in the back yard...

...a teddy bear chair I've temporarily placed in the as yet empty nursery...

...and these four things. Yes, three identical vases - Grace must really like them. Right now they're in an empty room, but I'll add them to the decor eventually.

As evening fell, they headed to Saint Simeon Chapel in Bigg City.

The great thing about Bigg City when playing legacies is that it has some wonderful places designed for wedding celebrations. I usually choose Weddings on the Green when I want to have big dashes, and this chapel for more intimate things.

To my surprise, however, quite a few sims arrived on the lot before I directed Chester to the arch, and so this wedding became a cosy yet popular event.

Besides a series of game-generated townies and [tumblr.com profile] mikexx2's custom downtownies, the ceremony was also attended by all these premade townies who sat so close to each other their hands went through each other's bodies while clapping.

As soon as the newlyweds returned home, they immediately fell asleep. It had been a full day.

Out of curiosity, I used some of Grace's money to buy a chest and made Chester chance to his maternity clothes. Once again, my game did not disappoint me.

Grace did not bother to change. Instead, she made cereal for breakfast - and discovered that Cuisine is her One True Hobby in the process.

As soon as they finished eating, I heard a loud noise outside. A helicopter had just arrived.

Grace quickly changed clothes and headed in its direction. It was then that I realized I forgot to check her job. It turns out that she's a Mayor, with her charisma and logic maxed out. This means I have no need to worry if she'll get promoted, and since her LTW is to max out all skills it doesn't really matter what job she's in. All I need to decide is whether I'll keep her in the job later on - since some sims roll wants to quit their job after they become mothers, I'll wait and see.

With Grace gone, Chester decided to spend the day working on his OTH (Film & Literature).

Chester: "This reminds me of the bouquet Grace gave me after our date."

Aww, Apollo Duckling wants to talk to Grace! They're originally grandmother and grandson back in [livejournal.com profile] sammyfrog's Duckling Legacy, so I find this incredibly sweet. It also reminds me that I probably should mark them as related.

In case Chester might wish to write a novel as part of his OTH, I decided to buy him an easel for him to increase his creativity (it might also be useful for Grace's LTW). Then, I decided to do a little makeover to the place, first by adding a small end table for Grace's roses.

I then changed the furniture in the master bedroom to fit with the chest I bought earlier.
And yes, those are two of Grace's vases.

And finally, a crib (and some lights) in the nursery.

I love some of the choices my game does when it generates random townies - such as giving a Jock social townie a wedding veil.

Townie: "I live in hope, okay? Shut up."

As true three-bolters, Chester and Grace were very happy to be reunited when she came back from work.

VERY happy.

EEK. I wanted to go for a big family, but not this big, this early.

(And in case you're curious about the alien baby's father, this is the multi-pollination mod I'm using. All alien babies will have a Maxis alienness to them.
Oh, and I'm also using an equally Maxis-centred multi-plantsim mod by the same creator.)

Speaking of babies, the first birth in the legacy is happening! (Also, appropriate painting is appropriate.)

Grace: "Oh, my word. I thought Chester had become a bit pudgy!"

Still, she's a Knowledge sim as well, so she's not displeased by this turn of events.

And we have a little red-haired boy.
Because I'm following what I like to call the "Ron & Hermione" method for picking a baby's name (a boy's name will begin with the same letter as the mother's, a girl's name will begin with the same letter as the father's) I decided to name him Cosmo.

Grace: "YAY ALIEN BABY!"

I told you she seemed okay with the idea.

The next day, as Chester left for work and Grace had the day off, I made her study some cooking (thus working on both her LTW and OTH), and she suddenly popped this want. I'm starting to think she might indeed roll the want to quit her job in the near future.

First baby pop! Unfortunately, it seems as if this dress doesn't have a pregnancy mesh, so I made her change to her maternity clothes immediately. They're not as awesome as Chester's, but at least they let the babies have some room.

Aww, what a sweet stepmother.

Chester came back from a promotion...

...and the ACR/3-bolt combo took over once again.

This time, however, this gave someone a shocking surprise.

Carl ([tumblr.com profile] meetmetotheriver): "I only came here to invite Mrs. Gieke to the Cuisine club."

Chester and Grace either didn't notice Carl, or didn't care.

Carl: "What is seen cannot be unseen."

I think he might be scarred for life.

Next day, and Chester now has a suit and a nicer ride.

The rest of the household seems to have fallen into a comfortable routine.

And Grace has become the official provider of food for the family.

Chester arrived with a promotion at the very moment Cosmo's imminent birthday was announced.

Grace: "Here you go, sweetheart. I think the honor should be yours."

Let's see what the combination of genes from Chester and the Colony Drone will look like.

Gah, bloody confetti.

Much better! Cosmo looks interesting, which is exactly what I'm going for with this legacy. (And it's a 100% Maxis sort of interesting, which amuses me.)

The most interesting thing, however, is his personality.

The first thing Chester does is to introduce little Cosmo to the joys of literature.

Aw, so cute!

And yes, aliens in my game have blue tongues and gums. I love my defaults.

And we close this update with yet another moment of Grace being a wonderful stepmother.

Next time: we'll see the arrival of the twins, hopefully. We'll also find out if Grace decides to quit her job in Politics or not. See you then!
