The Annotated Classic Fairy Tales - Maria Tatar (ed.)
An interesting book, with lots of footnotes analysing every minute detail of the selected fairy tales included in this. Some stories are presented in their "tamer" version, but enough is explained about the different versions for the reader to learn about the other depictions - for instance (and as I had mentioned in an earlier post), the version of Cinderella included being the one with the fairy godmother and the stepmother and sisters being forgiven, but you get a thorough comparison with the Grimm brothers' version, where nature is the force that aids Cinderella, and the wicked are maimed and injured through their own greed. I highly recommend it.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - J.K. Rowling
Yet another Harry Potter reread. It's interesting to note that my opinion of some characters has changed this time; I still hate Umbridge (which is more than natural since she's meant to be hated) but I was way more apologetic of Cho in the past and this time I found myself wanting to reach through the pages and slap her on more than one occasion. Curious.

The Autobiography - Elisabeth Sladen
Oh, Lis. This was such a lovely and fascinating insight into her life, and especially into the making of Doctor Who - and rather sad whenever I reminded myself that she's no longer with us. She was rather self-effacing at times, while simultaneously viciously defensive of Sarah Jane and who she was meant to be as opposed to how some Classic Who writers tended to view her. And the final note by her husband and daughter brought a tear to my eye.
