Welcome to Weirdville! (Part 1)

Yes, it's another Sims 2 storyline! A combination of personal life, computer issues and other random stuff (too many to list, really) have led to me discarding my other projects shortly before they began, for which I apologize. I think this is my first attempt at posting anything I've played in this laptop, and I hope this one will take off.
I'm taking a different approach here, as I'm going to focus on a playing style I've been toying with ever since the days of Percy Prettyface. It's sort of like a BACC, but without the many rules and money requirements, and you'll already have the subhoods and townies from the beginning. I'll see if I can work on posting a proper set of rules in the near future, but all you need to know for now is the following:
- Your main hood is a nearly empty and isolated place, though it's a taxi journey away from the nearest shopping distric and downtown. Those who live in those more prosperous places will look down on the sims that moved into the main hood, as they're living in the "middle of nowhere" (though the shopping district can be almost as empty as the main hood, if you so wish).
- You can start with a couple of community lots in the main hood, but they need to fit in with the aforementioned theme and/or backstory.
- Other community lots can be added whenever a playable family achieves a certain milestone. For example, a cemetery can be added when the first playable dies, a gym can be added when a playable maximizes their body skill, etc.
In the case of Weirdville, the context is that it's a small area close to
Anyway, let's get down to business

This is where our story will take place. Isn't it beautiful?

It's close to Widespot, which means is very far from places like Pleasantview or Veronaville. That said, it's even farther away from Strangetown, as evidenced from the fact it looks so lush and green.

No one lives here, but its crystal clear waters have attracted many sailors in recent times.

Because of this, a lighthouse was built on a nearby rock, adding to the beauty of the place.

Hold on. Is that... an observatory?

Is that a statue of Bella Goth? Right here, in the middle of nowhere?

Wait. What?
What?
WHAT???
So. It turns out that this peaceful place has been visited by aliens in the past. In fact, a small group of them is currently stranded in the area, and is studying the local fauna and flora as they wait for a ride back to their home planet.
It is also believed that they were accompanied by a raven-haired beauty from Pleasantview, who has managed to escape their captivity and is now roaming the area - but before this, the aliens have managed to collect some of her cells and might have made some tests on them. Or created clones. It's hard to say.

The aliens will soon have more things to study, however, as it looks like someone has decided to move to this isolated piece of paradise.

Someone who apparently really loves cheese.

Let's take a closer look, shall we?

Weird Alfred McCheese
Knowledge/Grilled Cheese
5-10-7-5-10
Hobby: Music & Dance
LTW: Become Rock God
As you can see, the main theme for this hood is "Weird Al" Yankovic. The hood is called Weirdville after him, and all community lots and street names will be directly linked to his music.

That said, Alfred might have the overall Weird Al look, but he wasn't designed to have his facial features. Instead, I turned this nerdy sim template that can be found in the university version of Create-a-Sim and BodyShop into an adult and merely gave him the right hair and clothes (he already had the Weird Al glasses).
(Also, I'm going to use the same naming system for his offspring that I used originally for my Cheese Legacy - in other words, any baby born to this family will be named after a cheese mentioned in Monty Python's Cheese Shop sketch.)

His humble abode, as seen from the outside...

...and the inside.
I borrowed a building idea from the great Juno Birch for this. Instead of adding foundations, I rose the floor on the area above the house, as if it was a tiny little mesa. There's no real reason for me to have done this, other than it looks strange and will therefore fit this hood to a T.

Also, moving Weird Alfred to this place has drained his bank account completely. He'll have to get a job soon if he's to survive.

The first thing Alfred does when he steps inside his brand new home is turn on the stereo and dance.

Who is this mysterious masked newspaper deliverer?
(I need to explain the reason behind her mask: I generated this paper girl using the NPC and Townie Maker cheat object. It's not a strategy I recommend you use, as any sim you create this way will remain in the neighbourhood files even if discarded. I was in a hurry to create the subhoods, though, and you need at least one teenage NPC to be alive in your hood before you create your university if you wish for them to be eligible to become students in the future.
All this to say that it seems that the NPC and Townie Maker uses the downtownie templates if you use it to create teen NPCs. This is a well-known downtownie template that's usually depicted wearing a red dress and a mask, and I once had another hood where the game gave me Joy Despret doing the same job.)

Anyway, because it took me a while before I eventually decided to generate the shopping district (the aforementioned Widespot) we did not get a welcome wagon. Instead of socializing, Weird Alfred kept on dancing, until I forced him to make lunch.

Needless to say, he made a lovely grilled cheese sandwich.
Weird Alfred: Yum.

Once his hunger bar was full, I placed Mr Humble's computer on the desk and had him search for a job. Sadly, no offers in the music career were available.

Oh, hello there, Agatha Hogwood (

He wanted to earn some skill points, so I made him study Cooking in hopes that he'll learn more cheese-based dishes.

At 6pm, he received a phone call from none other than the local Mr Big. Needless to say, the conversation soon turned to the wonders of grilled cheese sandwiches.

Mr Big invited him for an outing in Bigg City, and Alfred immediately agreed.

Alfred insisted that they had to go bowling, though.

Here's the taxi, arriving at the Cherry Bowl. Let's take a look at the group.

We have a teenage boy (with the same taste in shirts as Alfred) and a scantilly clad lady - both of them elves.

Then there's Clovis Point (the blond sim), who is a student at

And finally, we have another LGU student, Luis Iana.

The red-shirted elf is so busy thinking about himself that he doesn't even notice the beautiful Oribel Pelow (

Hello there, Skye Weiss (

And it looks like the rumours were correct! You can see from her face that this is the real Bella Goth, rather than a clone.

Bella and Skye immediately made a beeline to play bowling with Alfred.
Bella: I'm awesome.
Whatever you say, dear.

Alfred fell flat on his face on his very first attempt to throw the ball, but he doesn't look at all embarrassed - quite the opposite, in fact.

And no wonder, as it was a really incredible strike. Skye was highly amused by this piece of serendipity, but Bella was simply amazed.

Meanwhile, we get a sighting of Mrs Crumplebottom being awesome rather than obnoxious. Such is the power of bowling.

Overall the outing was a huge success, and Alfred has become quite popular with elves and university students.
Again, such is the power of bowling.

As Alfred was walking to the taxi, he began fawning over the elf lady, whose name is Musidora Yankovic (no, I'm not joking - that really is her name, courtesy of a mod I customized precisely for this project).
I wish he had told me earlier that he liked her - but then again, they only have one bolt of attraction. We'll keep her in mind, just in case.

Once he was back home, he decided to dance the night away.

Since the job pool changed at midnight, I made him search once again for work in the music business.

Success!

With this out of the way, I made Alfred get some sleep. He'll have to get up early in the morning, after all.
(And yes, his PJs are a pair of boxer shorts with a Grilled Cheese print. Why do you ask?)

Good night, sweet prince. See you next time.
And that's all for today. Next time, we'll have Alfred's first day at work - and, hopefully, a step forward in his love life.
Stay tuned, as I'll (hopefully) make a post with this hood's rules, as well as another with my resources.
See you next time!
