As promised, here's the new and improved Weirdville neighborhood! The previous version had to end not long before it started due to a strange glitch (more details on this post), but hopefully this new version will last for at least a few generations.
Now, as I promised in the follow-up post, I'm going to start playing this second iteration of the hood with three households on a four-day rotation: McCheese (i.e., what was originally the one lonesone founder household), Prettyface (from my old - and sadly just as short-lived - prettacy) and Curious (i.e., Pascal and Nervous Subject).

We're starting with Weird Alfred McCheese. Let's hope things will be better for him this time around...

( 92 pictures under the cut. )

comments

And yes, I'm happy to announce I've made my decision!

I don't know when it will be ready, but I'm happy to announce I'll go back to Weirdville, and this time I'll be playing three households in rotation:

Weird Alfred McCheese, whom I began to play in the previous iteration of Weirdville;

Pascal Curious and Nervous Subject (Pascal is still pregnant, by the way);

Aaaaaand... Percy Prettyface!

This is bound to be interesting to play.

It's been over a year since I last posted a Sims update, due to a number of reasons. The main one is that I began a course that revealed itself to be extremely demanding, and which ended up taking up much of my time and my energy. However, there was another reason: a really strange glitch that occurred in my game. I first noticed it during the music jam in my last Weirdville update, but I avoided sharing any screenshots where it was visible. Basically, some of the aliens from the townie pool I used when I created that neighbourhood began to glitch out and their skintone became S2 (well, DNA-less, if you think about it) rather than green. To this day I don't know what caused it, as my search for a mod conflict showed no results.
(I had a similar thing happen to me when I first tried to do a Pascal & Nervous legacy challenge set in the Strangetown with a Twist hood (you can find my intro to it here, but in that case I found the answer.)

I want to start playing the Sims again, but I've ended up resetting my game and doing a complete overhaul of my downloads folder so I'm going to start anew. What I'm trying to decide is where to go now, and I have a few options, all of which sound very interesting to me. No, I'm not going to pick more than one, because I want to start things slowly and do a stress-free sort of play. Here are my options:

( Read more... )

The final decision will be mine, of course, but if you happen to read this and find a particular option more appealing to you, please let me know.

comments

Yes, it's another Sims 2 storyline! A combination of personal life, computer issues and other random stuff (too many to list, really) have led to me discarding my other projects shortly before they began, for which I apologize. I think this is my first attempt at posting anything I've played in this laptop, and I hope this one will take off.

I'm taking a different approach here, as I'm going to focus on a playing style I've been toying with ever since the days of Percy Prettyface. It's sort of like a BACC, but without the many rules and money requirements, and you'll already have the subhoods and townies from the beginning. I'll see if I can work on posting a proper set of rules in the near future, but all you need to know for now is the following:

Your main hood is a nearly empty and isolated place, though it's a taxi journey away from the nearest shopping distric and downtown. Those who live in those more prosperous places will look down on the sims that moved into the main hood, as they're living in the "middle of nowhere" (though the shopping district can be almost as empty as the main hood, if you so wish).

You can start with a couple of community lots in the main hood, but they need to fit in with the aforementioned theme and/or backstory.

Other community lots can be added whenever a playable family achieves a certain milestone. For example, a cemetery can be added when the first playable dies, a gym can be added when a playable maximizes their body skill, etc.

In the case of Weirdville, the context is that it's a small area close to penig's hoods (Widespot, Bigg City and Land Grant University), which has attracted the attention of certain otherworldly investigators, who have become even more curious now that a human sim has decided to move in. We'll have to wait and see if others will follow.

Anyway, let's get down to business <s>to defeat the Huns... errrrrr</s> and begin our little adventure.

( Dare to be stupid.

Last time, I posted three updates of this legacy in a week, and promised I'd try to get a fourth one. Instead, it took me over a month to follow up on this, of which I apologize.
The explanation is very simple: I got sick. Because of this, not only was I too whoozy to sit in front of the computer, but I was also unable to get back to school for a week - and, as I've mentioned in the past, I'm taking a very intensive course on Java, and the intensity is such that missing a week of classes resulted in a snowball effect that made catching up increasingly difficult. I'm still struggling, but for the sake of my mental health I decided to take a break and play a bit of sims before my nose returns to the grindstone.
And wouldn't you know it, this particular session of sim-playing became very intense, as so much happened in the Gieke household. Brace yourselves.

( Birthdays. I've been on holidays recently, hence why I'm being so productive with the sims. Once I get back to my course (which will be a week from tomorrow) I'll have to stick to only playing the Giekes on weekends, and posts will be sporadic once again.
I'm still working rather than relaxing, as I'm studying and doing extra work, but I'm using the sims as a well-deserved break here and there. Because of this, there's a chance another update or two might come later in the week - let's keep our fingers crossed, anyway.

( ZZZZzzZzzzzZZZZ )

comments

This is going to be a light attempt, just for a few laughs and for me to unwind when I return home for the weekend as I'm currently taking an intensive Java course in another town during the week. I'm focusing it around a premade Maxis sim, with other Maxis sims (namely the Pleasantview townies and Bluewater Village sims, all fixed and cleaned up by meetmetotheriver), penig's subhoods and their sims, some others generated in game that use my extensive folder of default and non-default face templates, and a handful of other people's creations I have some fondness for and which as a result I have turned into townies and downtownies. All will be credited whenever they show up, of course.

And for the record: when I decided to populate this neighbourhood, I went for different facial expressions in order to have unexpected and interesting results for Chester Gieke's descendants. It's not an uglacy or a prettacy - if I have to describe it in one word, it would probably be an "interestingacy". And yes, that's a real word, at least in this journal.
